An old design return for a new chapter – Cheetah survey boat heads to Italy
Cheetah Marine is pleased to announce the launch of a new 7.2m x 2.55m survey catamaran, destined for a returning customer in Italy. This build marks the return of our 2.55m beam mould, the smallest in our range, bringing a fresh dimension to the Cheetah family. With its road-trailerable beam for European transport, this compact and versatile platform offers an attractive solution for operators seeking Cheetah’s renowned catamaran capabilities in a more easily transportable package.
Designed specifically for hydrographic survey operations, the vessel incorporates a dedicated moon pool, allowing survey equipment to be deployed directly between the hulls. The boat has been completed in a partially completed state and will now make its way to Italy, where the customer will undertake the final fit-out and installation of specialist equipment ahead of entering service in 2027.
Perhaps most pleasingly, this project represents the continuation of a relationship spanning nearly two decades. The customer’s previous Cheetah has provided over 18 years of hard-working service, and their decision to return for a new vessel is a testament to the longevity, reliability and versatility of the Cheetah design. We look forward to seeing the latest addition to the fleet take to the water and begin its next chapter of survey operations.
