Cheetah Marine and Selva Marine UK announce UK launch of continuously rated outboards
Cheetah Marine have entered into an agreement with Selva Marine UK, to set up a sales and service centre for Selva's continuously rated outboard engines. The exclusive range of engines will be available directly to commercial customers, Selva dealers and boat builders.
The initial range of engines will consist of: The Selva Dorado 996 cc @ both 25HP and 30HP, The Selva Marlin 1596 cc @ both 30HP and 50HP, The Selva Tarpon 1741 cc rated @ 40HP
As well as engine sales, Cheetah Marine will offer spare parts, service advice, fishing licence advice and an engine exchange program. All engines and spares will be held by Cheetah Marine and delivered tothem, directly, from the Selva factory in Italy.
We have always wanted a range of continuously rated outboard engines which suit the commercial operator.Selva now deliver exactly what is needed in key horsepower categories and deliver the power required. Currently, most outboard engines are rated at their highest horsepower,measured at maximum engine RPM with an optimised propeller. Although this is great for the sports boat market it does not, necessarily, suit commercial markets and means that the licence kW required, where necessary, is generally very high. However, the Selva range of continuously rated engines are high cubic capacity, running at lower RPM which makes licence kW requirements more realistic. These engines will also use less fuel and will have an increased engine life both of which helps towards a sustainable and safe fishery.
